Easy Easter Eggs

We love Easter eggs! They remind us of our childhood and make us happy campers. So wanted to show you a few neato, doable things you can do at home with a standard Easter egg dye set.

They’re simple, we promise! Washi Tape Transparent Factories

Easy Easter Eggs

Start with a bunch of hardboiled eggs. Easy peasy! A really good thing to do a day or two in advance of your decorating extravaganza. (It goes without saying: Store them in the fridge.)

Super simple, super cool. Place the egg into the dye a third of the way and set a timer. The longer you hold it there, the richer the color. Once time is up, lower the egg in two thirds of the way and set the timer again. Repeat but place then entire egg in the dye. Make sure whatever increment of time you choose remains consistent.

It will create a lovely gradation in the color of the egg.

Washi tape bunny ears and a white pom pom tail or a sweet drawn on chick face add extra character!

Or buck tradition and add on pretty scrapbooking stickers (instead of the tiny ones that come with the dye set) and rickrack. Go where your imagination takes you. Clearly, we had a good time with these!

Make some psychedelic patterns on your eggs! Don’t worry, it’s easier than it looks. Using a dropper, drip the concentrated dye (meaning you’ve only added the vinegar to the tabs, not water) on the egg and let it sit or run for a few seconds. Then blot off the excess with an old rag or paper towels. Repeat until the entire egg is covered. Mix up the colors and overlap patterns.

If you end up eating your Easter eggs (yum! all of the delicious egg dishes you can use them with! Just be sure to keep them refrigerated) and you’re not thrilled about using markers, try these Wilton FoodWriter Edible Color Markers. They are normally used on fondant-topped cakes but will work just as well on your hardboiled eggs.

Tell us, what are your egg-stra (we can’t help ourselves) special Easter traditions? Do you still love dyeing eggs as much as we do?
